Only 5 episodes
Sesame Street is obviously a classic, and the old episodes are quite interesting from a cultural/sociological studies perspective. I did enjoy watching some of the old segments that I haven't seen forever, but I was disappointment to find that there were only 5 episodes included in this DVD set (plus some bonus segments). The set doesn't claim that there are more then this, but my impression was that there was more. I would have very much liked more full episodes. Nevertheless, you will find some of your favorite classic segments here.
Great entertainment. More extras needed
I ordered this more for my kids than for me. But I watched the whole this in two nights. It is well worth the price. I barely remember these, but as soon as heard some of the songs, I felt like a kid again. I was 3-4 YO during this time. Sesame Street was better in the 1970's and my own kids' (2 and 5) reaction reinforces this conclusion. They were entranced more by this that any show on TV now. The one with the two little girls and the doll house and the cats is their favorite. It is really engaging and the song is perfect. The "loaf of bread, container of milk and a stick of butter" was clearly inspired by Ryan Larkin. The muppet sketches were edgier and much funnier. And some parts were genuinely scary. Kids like that. I'm rating 4* because I'd have loved more extras (behind the scenes) and fewer of the "bob" intros.
Sesame Street at its Best
This is Sesame Street at its best. The best years of Sesame Street was
from 1969 to 1985.It would be nice to see more Sesame Street box sets
released from this time period. It brings back wonderful memories of
watching this show as a kid.
