Everyone wants it...

I bought this camera from Amazon after my girlfriend dropped my old one, breaking the lens in the process. Was cheaper to buy this camera than repair the old one, boy am I glad she broke my old camera!

I didn't expect this camera to be quite this good. It's packed with gizmos for those people who like to fiddle with camera settings to get that extra special picture, as well as being a fantastic simple point-and-shoot camera. Big plus is the speed it takes photos, it's unbelievably quick at turning on, shooting and storing images (you can make it even faster with the high-speed shooting mode which results in the camera focussing more quicker, but drains the battery faster. In my opinion it's fast enough even without this mode). The battery life is astonishing, I went on a two week trip to Lanzarote over the summer and took well over 600 photos and only charged the battery once (didn't have a full charge when I started holiday either). That doesn't account for all the time I had it switched on waiting for the right picture to snap. To compare, I went to Kenya the previous year with my old Olympus camera, and used up three battery packs, with the LCD viewfinder switched off using the optical viewfinder instead, to save as much battery as possible.

I love the chrome setting. It makes landscape pictures noticeably more crisp and colourful, especially early evening shots. I've got fantastic shots of Brighton pier using this setting. The higher ISO settings are useful for getting more natural light photos in more dimly lit places, I got good snaps in the entrance to London Dungeon using this feature!

Lots of my friends/family have commented on how sleek this camera is. Once I ask them to take a group photo for me, they always ask where I got it from and ask how much I paid!

The only downside I found was not having an optical viewfinder - I rarely use it, but would appreciate having one on my summer holidays abroad,where the sun makes it difficult to see the LCD viewfinder, especially if you wear sunglasses. However, on an average day in England it works just fine! You can get round this problem slightly by using the 'increased brightness' feature, which temporarily brightens the LCD monitor for a minute in difficult light situations, and shielding the LCD panel with your hand - but this doesn't completely satisfy my problem like an optical viewfinder would.

All in all, this is a fantastic camera that I would recommend to anybody. Let's face it, how many of us think of using the optical viewfinder on our cameras when the LCD panel isn't practical!? For what you pay on Amazon, you get a bargain.

Drawbacks of its great low-light performance?

This camera has a low dynamic range-this means that many of the photos taken outside have correctly exposed subjects, but over-exposed skies or vice versa.Its a real disappointment to have something like 10% of my outdoor photos with white,featureless over-exposed skies. I have returned the camera to fuji who can find nothing wrong with the camera and who say that this is just a problem common to digital compacts.However none of the other digital compacts in my household suffer so badly from this problem, so I am left wondering if its a consequence of the super sensitive chip? Otherwise the photos are very good. I feel I have wasted my money on this camera.

First class camera with great ease of use

The first product I had ever bought from Amazon turned out to be a first class product. A super camera, compact, of light weight and with instructions which were easy to understand. The quality of the photos is absolutely superb and I would highly recommend this product. Furthermore, the service provided by Amazon was first class as well.

Great camera that can produce excellant sharp pictures. However, forget about being able to see the LCD screen as a viewfinder in bright daylight!
It's not on its own with this fault... why these cameras can't have a simple basic optical viewfinder as well is beyond me!

Good value for money

Realistic colours and good quality pictures. Photos have low noise at ISO 1600 and therefore useful in low light. Fantastic battery life. Compatible with the newer Fuji Type M/H xD cards. Although its size may seem slightly large compared to some newer models by other manufacturers, the F10 picture quality remains superior. It is worth noting that the camera is still very pocketable and is actually ergonomically better designed than other slimmer cameras. The only downside is the clumsy connections to the PC and when recharging battery. Overall very pleased with purchase.
