Don't Do It
If I could have given it 0 stars, I would have! Of all the Soca Gold collections, this one is the worst!!! My six year old son could have done a better compilation! Don't waste your time or money! The CD is now a coaster.....
Not as good as previous releases
I would disagree with the previous reviewer. I don't have the album but I know a good number of the songs on the album. Bunji and Onika "Get on Bad", Maximus Dan "Soca Train" and "Strings" by Burning Flames are excellent tracks that should not be missed by any Soca fan. Unfortunately, of the three big tunes for the year, not one made it to this album. At least one out of "De Band Comin", "Craziness" or "Bonnie and Clyde" should have made this album.
Hot and Sexy
As the title implies it is SOCA, a different kind of music that is found mostly in the Caribbean. Soca music has a lot of Latin flavor with Latin grooves. Most Soca that I have heard is up-tempo and has a lot of energy injected into it's rhythm. The other is slow and easy. But no matter if it's fast or slow, it is very sexy and is an exciting treat to see a couple dance to the music. You will hear and see the Latin and Caribbean grooves when Soca is played. It is not Reggae and most people that hear Soca are disappointed. In most cases it's because they expect to hear Rasta chants, Amoxious dubs or a BOB MARLEY groove. If it's your first time listening to Soca, You won't hear that here. You might need to open your mind a bit by getting a visual. Checking into a club that plays Soca or better yet head to an Caribbean Island like St. Martin.
Better yet, Get your copy of SOCA GOLD 2004 and you will understand what I mean. It is loaded with all the elements that I previously mention. It is a CD that gets people moving, no matter it have been heard before. It's Gold!

I am a jd in philly and this cd brings a lot of my customers to the dance-floor. I am giving it four stars because, it has a lot of hot track's and vp is really putting it down, big shotoutsss from dj p peace.

Being a true socahead, I enjoyed the c.d. These songs can be heard at fetes around the world. Any true soca fan would appreciate the c.d.
