Beenie Man in mourning apologizes to fans
Filed under: Reggae|JamaicaIn the midst of mourning the death of one of his brothers, Beenie Man has issued an apology for his performance at the Jamaica Carnival Finale at the National Stadium staged two weeks ago. Both Beenie Man and Bounty Killer appeared at the event as part of their sponsorship agreement with Cable and Wireless Ltd.
"I have become aware that some portions of my performance at the 'Last Hurrah' concert of the Supreme Ventures Jamaica Carnival on Sunday April 3, have been the subject of concern among some persons.
"In thinking about the performance and looking back at the footage I can appreciate some of the concerns with this performance. I regret any offensive remarks from the crowd which could have been prompted by my performance. It was not my intention to offend anyone and I sincerely regret any discomfort which resulted from any aspect of my performance," reads his apology.
Quietly coping
In the midst of his releasing this apology, Beenie Man and his family have been quietly coping with the death of his brother Mark on the weekend. Beenie Man's brother, Mark Davis, died due to complications with his injuries following a car crash on Wellington Avenue last week.
According to reports, Davis, known to friends as 'Belly', was a passenger in a Toyota Corolla driven by a friend. The car reportedly collided with another on Wellington Avenue. Davis was taken to the University Hospital of The West Indies where he was admitted. This past weekend however, he succumbed to his injuries.
Beenie Man was unavailable for comment on the matter, but his manager Patrick Roberts stated that Beenie was keeping quiet as he coped.
"Beenie is just coming to grips with it and trying to cope right now," he stated. "He is just taking it easy as it comes, trying to cope as much as possible in some peace and quiet," he added.
