Child rapist gets 14 years


A convicted child molester was sentenced to 14 years in prison yesterday for raping two sisters in their inner-city home four years ago. Leonard Rolle, who attended the same church as the girls' mother, was found guilty of walking into the home off East Street and raping the girls in the front room on November 24, 2004. The girls at the time ages nine and 11, did not attend school that day because they were ill.

BSL investors pulling $5m from their pockets?


Guardian Business has learned major shareholders in BSL Holdings are actively considering pumping as much $5m into City Markets—liquidity ostensibly directed at covering operating costs for things as basic as restocking shelves, which in some cases had been virtually emptied. "It's an injection that has been actively weighed over the last three weeks," a small investor in Bahamas Supermarkets Ltd. told Guardian Business Wednesday.

Athletes speak out on subventions


Olympic triple jump bronze medallist 'Superman' Leevan Sands and former 200 meter World Champion Dominic Demeritte want answers from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture as it relates to the 2008-09 subvention packages. Sands and Demeritte contacted The Nassau Guardian Wednesday and expressed disdain for what they consider unfair allocations.

School teachers often teach young children to memorize the Lord's prayer because Jesus uses this as a teaching tool for how we should pray. However, even as we grow older we still pray this prayer word for word, although local ministers say that this was not the intention. They say the prayer's purpose was to teach us what our own prayers should include before we go before God.
