Rumours Of War - Trinidad
The date finally arrive!
Early Juggling
Early juggling was handled by King Courage. The brother did well! The ppl were thirsty for war and Courage took on the juggling alone on stage and managed to keep the girls waistline moving! Next up came Associate Degree and it was like they came wid a hype we never really saw before from Akeil touch the mic the crowd just full up the front of the stage. Real nice vibes. DJ Amali touched it too and literally played 2 tunes. No long talk.
The coin flipped & Crown played 1st.
30 minute round
Mighty Crown just cruised through this round and were well received by the crowd. From they started with their signature Barrington Levy the heat was on! For the 1st part of their round they stayed in their foundation box....Errol Dunkley, Anthony Johnson, Beres, Freddie Mc Gregor. They played Sizzla's Holding Firm and tell Matterhorn to remember they've been coming to Trinidad for the last 5 years.....huge foward! They then went into some easy juggling on the real rock and pop off some of Matterhorn's Bounty. Most of their round was along these lines.......sizzla, Morgan Heritage etc.
Nice easy reggae blender. Well appreciated by the Trini crowd. They eventually picked up the pace wid some showtime & a couple new tune. Nothing spectacularbut the crowd was loving it. Sammy T came from behind the set wid a pack of Matterhorns and threw them away and draw for a phat spliff! 'no cigarette bwoy nuh madda dan the bad japanese! Matterhorn came in with the youth from associate degree named assassin.
1st draw- counteract jah jah bless me by jah cure! big foward. 2nd dwar- counteract capleton's no cigarette wid inna me gun! 3rd draw- counteract the same capleton again wid empty gun! After this it was kinda tourh on matterhorn because although assassin handled himself like a 5 star general i think only johnny killer can handle matterhorn and the pace at which he changes his mind. A huge part of the round was bounty, cartel, cartel bounty, bounty, cartel new tune, newer tune, new riddim! somewhere in there he managed to drop in a couple sizzla & buju. He then moved inside some nice lil reggaematical tunes too. shinehead, richiespice, chuck fender, sizzla. The crowd rocked away. Of course he went right back into the hype tunes and closed the round strong with a soca from wanski. huge foward of caurse. No chi chi man in the dance.............same tune moziah used and whapped him last year.
1st 15 minute round
Crown came back in and drew for their iwer / beenie combo and flatten the place. They let matterhorn know that they were the 1st non trinidadian sound to make a dancehall soca combo and buss dance. They then let him know that the wanski was a last year tune and he hadda come 'up to di time' with the soca and released maximus dan's soca train! fuck up the dance. straight! They easily took back the lead with this start and sealed it with some sleng teng & bruckout & juggling. Big fowards for nearly every tune in the juggling. Matterhorn gave assassin a rest this round and played for himself. Impressive.
Showing real talent he mixed & talked on a set that the engineer just showed him how to use. Nuff bounty rinsed out and a wicked piece of juggling on the engine. This was easily the wickedest part of the dance up to this point so needless to say matterhorn took back the lead. In the middle of the juggling he even managed to pull out a slim jim from stage side and grind her down to capleton's tek down the drawers! big fowards.
Next up came another wraughted juggling on the murder she wrote riddim. At this point it looked like the end of mighty crown. Their fans were straight up worried! Crown played a wicked 1st & 2nd round but mentally ill just stepped up everytime they tried something. As if that wasn't bad enough, matterhorn drew for a maximus dan and got the biggest soca foward for the night.
2nd 15 minute round
'yuh think we should back out o' this bumboclat?'......'why the fuck should we back out' wyclef - 911, 50 cent - many sounds, lloyd banks l/side youngbuck l/side vybz cartel - that tune wheel out from cartel start it! as a matter of fact cartel is the wickedest part of the tune! lil john - we doh give a fuck! 'matterhorn your plane is leaving son'........'go catch your plane'....'people signal the plane pon matterhorn'.......... ele l/side lil john - window to the wall, outkast do over (whoever sing it) - hey yo, buju shabba combo, followed by some serial mighty crown sound killing!
How they come back i doh know, but i know this is the biggest round ever in trinidad! they took it away from sel's soca round in .45 shoplock. People were running down from the top of the hill. DANCE GET FLATTEN IN THIS ROUND. Matterhorn fans (including shal aka shal matterhorn) get cross..angry..miserable.
Matterhorn responded with a good round but accepted defeat long before he played his 1st tune. He brought back in assassin and he played the wrong tune from the start. He came back well though. Letting crown know that he 1st played 50 cent & addies start hiphop in soundclash. He went inside his hate me now & then ran inside some foundation......yami bolo, admiral tibet, johnny clark, gregory isaacs.........doesn't sound like matterhorn right?, barrington, beres. He did a good job of calming down the dance and making people listen music again.
