World Clash 2005 - New York - October 8 2005
Round 2 (10 minutes) [2 Sounds Eliminated]
Mighty Crown came back in and played Bernie Mac (the american comedian) on dub dissing up the World Clash sounds. The skit got some decent forwards from the people, but nothing like what Waggy T did to Bodyguard when he got EDDY MURPHY to do the same thing dissing them up .... Anyway, Mighty Crown got some forwards off of Jah Cure's "Love Is The Only Solution," Cocoa Tea/Spragga combo "No Threat," and Sizzla's "Clean Up Your Heart." They really boiled down towards the end of the round and got a lot of boos. It was not looking good for Mighty Crown
Bass Odyssey came back in and played some classic Bass Odyssey tunes. They actually played back Cocoa Tea's "Glory and Halelujah" (i think i spelled it wrong), as they have it in combo with Sanchez. Mighty Crown played the tune in their combo with Bounty Killer, but the people did not realize. Worm mashed up his round with some Bass Odyssey selection on the Sick Riddim from Bounty, Cobra, and other DJs. He made a speech about Bass Odyssey being the only sound playing 5 times in one night and played Busy Signal's "Busy, Busy, Busy ...." and got a nice forward. Another solid round by the young tandem on Bass O.
Immortal came in and counteracted "Mama Hungry," played by Mighty Crown with "Soundboy you ago dead now ..." But nothing gwan fi dem. NY was not feeling Immortal, they got little to no response from the crowd. It seemed as though they were in danger of dropping out.
Desert Storm pretty much was the same as Immortal ... They even switched MCs, but nothing really worked. There is not much to say other than they did not get a positive response from the crowd. They too, were in danger of dropping out, it seemed.
Sentinel came back in and played a custom built tune from a NY artist, Splicer. It got little to no forward. They did get a big forward for a counteraction to Anthony Johnson's "Every Night Is a Soundclash ..." They got a huge forward for Bounty Killer's "Badman Kill Fi Fun," and "Convince." They leveled the venue with a Shabba Ranks/Admiral Bailey combo, which was probably one of the biggest forwards for the first round. They got another big forward for Kartel's "I Never." Sentinel was easily leading the 2nd round (in my opinion).
Black Kat came in and played their typical Answer selection ... Chronicle, Chuck Fender, Wayne Wonder, Bounty Killer. They destroyed Elite Ark (obviously). They played some classic Black Kat dubs from Culture, Michael Palmer, Garnett Silk, etc. They played a custom built "We Do The Killing" from Cocoa Tea and got some nice forwards. Most would probably agree that they ran 2nd place to Sentinel in this round, though.
The round was not judged, and it was decided that Desert Storm and Immortal would exit. A LOT of patrons wanted Mighty Crown to exit the dance, but they got a next chance, as it was only a 2 sound elimination and it seemed that Desert Storm and Immortal were the crowd picks to exit early.
