Lord Have Mercy

Local comedians Dennis ?Sprangalang ? Hall and Rachel Price prove that they could do more than just tell a joke as stars of the Canadian comedy Lord Have Mercy!
The series which premiered on Gayelle the Channel last Monday, was launched in Canada in February as part of Black History Month.
It follows the lives of card-playing, smoking pastor Cuthbert Stevens (Sprangalang), the very proper Sister Hope McCauley (Jamaica?s Leonie Forbes) and their running of the Mt Zion Church.
Youth pastor Dwight Gooding (Arnold Pinnock), however, thinks he has what it takes to add a modern spin to the church?s traditional order of business, much to Hope McCauley?s chagrin.
In episode one for instance we saw Gooding change the photo of a white, blue eyed, blonde Jesus to a black one with rippling muscles and dreadlocks.
?Oh gorsh no,? Hope said at witnessing the travesty.
?He put Michael Jackson on the wall.?
Whenever pastor Dwight goes missing, he can be found with his fiesty new wife Desiree (Price) who keeps him busy in the bedroom.
For those who missed the show?s premiere, the show can easily be described as a cross between Amen (the American comedy that stars Sherman Hemsley) and the Desmonds.
Chris Johnson, VisionTV?s senior vice president (programming) in the sitcom?s web site described Lord Have Mercy! as ?something very special: our network?s first original situation comedy, and the first truly multicultural sitcom ever produced in Canada.?
Hip-hop artist Shawn ?Singlefoot? Singleton of Baby Blue Soundcrew, comedian Russell Peters, Gary Farmer and Louis Negin and Debbie Young also star.
Lord Have Mercy! was created by veteran filmmaker Frances-Anne Solomon, founder of production company Leda Serene Films, and writer/producer Vanz Chapman.
