Renaissance 15th Anniversary - Temple Hall Estate, Stony Hill, St. Andrew

Renaissance Crew celebrates in fine style

After 15 years in the business the Renaissance Crew showed on Saturday night that they still know how to throw a great party.

Renaissance's 15th Birthday celebrations at the Temple Hall Estate in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, was the proof that with age comes quality.

It was no ordinary party, as hundreds of supportive fans, friends and deejays turned out to show their love for the Renaissance crew. Early indications that the party was not ordinary came when patrons had to park their vehicles and walk for almost a mile just to get into the venue. But the long walk was not a detractor as the vast venue of the Temple Hall Estate was full to capacity.

By minutes to midnight the party was already in full swing with the sound of some great dancehall hits from the early 90s emanating from the venue into the nearby communities. But while inside was already quite full, a long line still queued up at the entrance. As a matter of fact, at almost 2 a.m., a number of patrons were still filing into the venue.

With the likes of Jazzy T and other members of the Renaissance Crew behind the turntables, plus complementary Red Stripe all night long, patrons were definitely given the right ingredients for fun.

Outstanding attires

When it came to the fashions donned for the event, the patrons went all out. There were some of the most elaborate fashions and designs. Quite popular as fashion statements were low-cut dresses at the back and high splits for the skirts.

The colours utilized were bright and one particular female patron, clad in a bright orange dress that hugged to her body and stopped just below her buttock, had the guys drooling. They stared even more when she went on the dance floor and gave them something to look at.

Apart from recorded music and the fashion frenzy, patrons also had the chance to rub shoulders with a few of their favourite deejays such as Da'Ville, Voise Mail and Ward 21.

At 3 a.m., Jazzy T turned up the heat a few notches in the 'selecting game', and from there on he couldn't do anything wrong. He unleashed a series of Elephant Man dance songs and patrons 'got down' in fine style.

In addition, Wayne Wonder's Anything Goes and a number of Vybz Kartel songs were well appreciated by the patrons and lighters, rags, cell phones and whatever they could grab to put in the air was used to show this.

Shaun and the Copper Shot crew then took over at the turntables, switching the pace, but still maintaining the vibes already established by the Renaissance crew.

At 4:30 a.m. patrons were still at the height of their vibes, dancing, gyrating and drinking the early morn' away. The Renaissance crew did it again! Bring on the 'sweet sixteen' party.
