Supreme Ventures Jamaica Carnival 2005 - Jamalco Sports Complex, Jamaica

After its grand showing in St Elizabeth, Supreme Ventures Jamaica Carnival moved into and took over the Jamalco Sports Complex in May Pen on Saturday night. It was expected that the evening's offerings would be just as good as the previous night's and that expectation was materialised, as the multi-talented Byron Lee and the Dragonaires were able to easily top the 'Kitty Kitty' party held in Junction a week earlier.

Mobile music machine Nite Traxx, and local sound system Top Secret perfectly complemented each other, consistently playing a string of dancehall hits including Jacket, Longing For, All Dem Deh and a slew of conscious lyrics such as One Man Can't Satisfy, Hand Cart Boy and Best Friend. These selections were welcomed by the massive crowd and evoked much excitement and merrymaking.

With Buju Banton's Bogle Dance, the crowd exploded into dance, moving up and across the sports complex, gyrating and getting on bad. When Oscar B, Ashley and Jumo graced the stage with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires just before midnight, the momentum was already high. Starting off with a plethora of soca dance songs like Moving To The Left and Jump and Wave, the crowd erupted into cheers, moving in sync with each instruction.

During the brief intermission, emcee Jerry D ensured that the excitement was maintained at a paramount level as he assisted with the sale of carnival costumes and many Supreme Ventures giveaways. The Supreme Ventures Wheel of Fortune also drew quite a crowd as many tried their luck and walked away with rags, mugs, bags and cash prizes.

When the band returned to the stage with another newcomer, Sandy, it was more of the same foot-stomping, rump-shaking music and excitement as they unleashed soca hits like Get The Cat, Dollar Wine, Soca Butterfly, and Hocus Pocus. The fever continued throughout the night and was adequate to keep the massive crowd at the venue till early morning.
