Joel Zan Fezeck, jointly charged with Machel Montano, Rodney Benjai Le Blanc and songwriter Kernel Roberts in the
assault of Brandis Browne outside Zen nightclub [9] on Keate Street, Port Of Spain, missed a court date yesterday, with his lawyer informing Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor that "I do not know if he took a nap while there. He is unable to be reached via his phone".

The four soca artists made headlines for all the wrong reasons on April 26, 2007 for an incident that resulted in Brandis Browne being hospitalized for the injuries received from the commotion which began in Zen nightclub and spilled out on to Keate Street.
Montano, Fezeck, Le Blanc and Roberts are also charged with assaulting Russell Pollonais, while Montano is also charged with using "obscene language to annoyance of other persons". Montano and Fezeck are currently on TT$50,000 bail, while Roberts is on TT$25,000 and Le Blanc TT$30,000 bail.
A summary trial was recommended for Machel, Zan, Kernel and Benjai, which means there will be no judge and jury trial and will therefore be heard in the Magistrates' Court. Dana Seetahal, Machel Montano's attorney asked for the case to begin after Carnival season as this it the time when the accused are dependent on making their earnings.
