Alisha Marsha Chunu was recently charged nine times in an extortion scheme on Rennie Coolman totaling TT$95,000 between April 4 and 18, 2007. Mr Coolman, the husband of Vindra Naipaul-Coolman became suspicious after a third payment was made. Would you be suspicious after the first request?
Here is a list of the charges that were laid against Alisha Marsha Chunu:

April 4, 2007
Alisha Marsha Chunu
- Corruptly solicited for herself TT$25,000 from Rennie Coolman at Point Lisas, to be used as an inducement to Israel Khan SC to advise Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson that there was no evidence to prosecute Coolman for the alleged murder of his wife, Vindra Naipaul-Coolman

- Corruptly received the sum of TT$25,000 for herself, from Coolman at Grand Bazaar, Valsayn, to be used to pay Khan

-fraudulently obtained the said TT$25,000 sum from Coolman for the same purpose by pretending she was an attorney in Henderson's office

April 12, 2007

- Corruptly solicited TT$50,000 for herself from Coolman at Chaguanas. The money was to have been used to pay Henderson so he would "forbear to prosecute" Coolman for Naipaul-Coolman's alleged murder

- Corruptly received the TT$50,000 from Coolman at Port of Spain to be paid to Henderson

- Fraudulently obtained the TT$50,000 to be paid to Henderson by pretending she was an attorney in Henderson's office

April 18, 2007

- Corruptly solicited TT$100,000 from Coolman for herself while at Point Lisas, to be paid to Henderson so that he would not prosecute Coolman for his wife's alleged murder

- Corruptly received for herself TT$20,000 from Coolman at Grand Bazaar to be paid to Henderson

April 19, 2007

- Fraudulently attempted to obtain TT$20,000 from Coolman at Grand Bazaar to be paid to Henderson as another inducement not to charge him. It is alleged that she also pretended to be an attorney in Henderson's office and that a police file on Naipaul-Coolman's disappearance was assigned to her.
Rennie Coolman - paid hush money to Alisha Marsha Chunu before reporting to police
According to Trinidad Newsday [9], Coolman "became frightened and agreed and arrangements were put in place to pay the money. The first payment of TT$25,000 was paid. Sometime later, another TT$50,000 was handed over. It was then that Rennie Coolman became suspicious of the female “lawyer” (Chunu) and spoke to a friend."

The friend contacted a retired senior policeman about the matter. By that time, the woman (Chunu) called again asking for a further $100,000 as she needed to pay off certain people to “lose the file.”

The retired policeman contacted the Fraud Squad and plans were put in place for the sting operation. Coolman was told to make arrangements for the woman to meet him at the bank at Grand Bazaar, where Chunu was eventually arrested.

Well, if the Director of Public Prosecutions has enough evidence [10], although provided by Ronnie Coolman, one wonders why is Ronnie Coolman so eager to pay money on multiple occasions to silence a fabricated case against him for the murder of his wife? What about TT$95,000, that made him now wonder as to Alisha Marsha Chunu's credibility? You may think that in such a high profile case, the first person you call is your lawyer, especially with impending "litigation" on the horizon. Surely it also must be illegal to both solicit and pay extortion money.

Coolman maintains he is not and was never was a suspect [11] in the kidnapping and now subsequent murder of his wife Vindra. However, according to the statement of charges laid against Alisha Marsha Chunu something is not adding up. This week nine men were charged for the murder [12] of the kidnapped wife of Rennie Coolman, Vindra Naipaul-Coolman.
