Yesterday, July 10 I went to Reggae Carifest on Randall's Island....I have a few things to say bout it.
First and foremost I have been into dancehall and reggae forever but I have never gone to a full out show...I've been to clubs and artists performing there but this was a new experience....I totally enjoyed myself. Everyone was so chill and the weather was gorgeous...and the ganja clouds were high..
Buju, Luciano, Assasin were amazin' I-Wayne was good too, However, I thought he was gettin a little preachy...I-Wayne should just let his music be the message cuz it's powerful on it's own.
But I had a big problem with the Carifest....Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Vybz Cartel, TOK, Bounty Killa, and Sizzla were all supposed to perform and none did.
I really wanted to see Beenie and Sizzla.
Now I understand if one or two didn't show but 6 big names not performin' is bullshit...I paid 50 dollars for the ticket...and I'm a student working two jobs...I work hard for my money....and when I pay a ticket expecting people to perform...they should be there
I had an amazing time though...and hope to go next year.
