 DON'T GET MAD YA'LL,BUT ITS THE TRRUTH.IM A JAMAICAN LIVING IN FLATBUSH BROOKLYN,N.Y. AND I'M SICK OF IT.EVERY YEARS THE SHIT GETS MORE AND MORE SICKENING.I REMEMBER WHEN BUJU BANTON WAS HOT.I REMEMBER WHEN HALF PINT WAS HOT AND SO ON.NOWADAYS THESE GUY MUSIC ALL SOUNDS LIKE THIS......

| From my understaanding Mikey General wasn't dissing buju, he is reminiscing on what he feels was the golden age of dancehall. Anyway, I can understand where Mikey General is coming from, but man you paint to broad a picture. Why are you dissing your own people? There are artists out there that do good stuff, like all genres music though, usually the pop stuff is what gets over exposed. You are condeming a nation of millions of people for the antics of a few dozen (IF THAT) that's what the white man set us up to do you know. to find any reason to hate each other. actively search out the songs and artists that you enjoy and seek out a place that will play those tunes. the current dancehall scene is too young for you man, it fill up with too many yute dem that won't recognize the good stuff as yet. but all things happen in cycles man, the reggae scene is shifting to more conscious stuff right now. love your people man, don't let the white man dictate how you feel ab out your own. |

I agree with MikeyGeneral to an extent. I'm a Trini livin in New Jersey but I spent most of my life in Trinidad and I grew up on Dancehall music. I must say that quality is better than quantity. I think that in recent years the industry has been mass producing riddims and that's not a good thing. It dosen't give one a chance to truly enjoy an artist's work, and instead you're left playing catchup. Has anyone noticed how much and for how long a good riddim and the artists that collaborated on it got recognized in the early to mid 90's as opposed to nowadays? The most recent work that I think made a fairly good effort to take it back was the Sleepy Dog Riddim (Assasin - As a man Wicked!!!!)....

Mikey Genral, I have to agree with you on this one.........Cause for years now I realize that dancehall slipping, the artist them chatting the same bag a shit . Then they come with saome lame ass hook "sHANKLE MI aNKLE". It not entertaining the way Shabba or Cat would come entertain the massive.
Like thye feel say reggae listeners are illerate. Man have to talk lil bit a sense ome time. Trus say I lose offa some a de new tune them. Then it have artist like Sizzla them that was hot when they came out. Singing tunes with sense an meaning. Now the rasta like he wuking for Porno mag.........is only unda gayl he sininging bout.....F up har Pum Pum.
So sadly the state of the music going down. I eh wan no lil yute come with a bag a shit telling me bout i EH KNOW SHIT...........Well me will say listenn to a lil Tenor Saw, Yami Bolo, Junior Reid............and them uther artist then you will see da light. I still have some Foundation that i SLISTEN tO ALL tha time, none a da new shit |

| Mikey General is correct and anyone who says dancehall no gone down ah fool. When was the last time you go to a dance an wuk up pon ah gal or vice versa. u cant, cause every other day is row de boat, chakka chakka, wacky dip and one bag a ah fuckry. ele is one of the biggest reasons dancehall gon down. he started the whole pinkers revolution. man ah come ah fe look hotta than de gyal dem. peer man ah dance with man inna dem crew and de gyal dem ah stand up cause de man dem ah dance with one anneda. you can't appreciate tunes anymore cause everyday it's a new riddim and most of dem are garbage. the songs and the lyrics that these artist are coming out with are so amazingly trashy that you no even remember dem two months later. ah just some one minuit hype. it seems like if you nah bun battyman or you nah disrespect de woman dem you can't get a buss inna de business, hence the one bag ah idiot tunes. |
