LEGACY ON THE NET LAUNCHED
The place Veni Mange on Ariapita Avenue-a perfect setting to any local event..pictures of local sports personalites, calypso pioneers, soca stars litter the walls, baskets of local fruit over flowing on counter tops...and of course the owers Allyson Hennessy (of DATELINE fame) and her sister Roses with their staff in colourful caribbean wear tend the bar.
Upon entry to Veni after passing the sign that proclaimed LEGACY and all the colourful flags lining the walls, one was greeted by several young people both male and female of every race, size and figure smartly & decently clad in T-shirts, baby Tee vests branded LEGACY, who placed beads of different colours Mardi Gras style on our necks as they welcomed us to LEGACY on D Net...
Inside was awash with media representing their various places of employment, British Gas employees, foreigners, guest from diplomatic missions, other carnival band leaders and committe members of the NCDF, members of the business community, PANTRINBAGO members, family friends and well wishers - a true callaloo of Trini Carnival culture. With in minutes the placed was packed.
Also at the event was T&T's Top model Yolandra John who was also a former Miss T&T World 2002 contestant. she gave her full support to Legacy and informed the gathering that she is indeed a full member of its Youth committee.
As the evening progressed we were treated to alcoholic beverages courtesy ANGOSTURA - Caribbean Mango or Passion fruit flavoured rum or Blu Vodka and specially for the youth and non-drinkers a non-alcoholic sparkling white wine.
The highlight of the evening was the showing of the new web-site designed and produced by Proudfoot Communication and the introduction of the LEGACY Youth Group - Phoneix... the passing on of the Carnival Legacy to the next generation to continue the culture. The youth present did not only party but were very aware of their roles and were seen ensuring that everyone signed the guest list and were welcomed.
Another surprise for the night was the distribution of SACHA Make Over vouchers (valued at $75.00) and nail polishes to all the ladies and Legacy T-shirts to the gents.
Entertainment for the evening was in itself different with a full rhythm section which the crowd even the 15 plus youths preferred to the DJ......with Big Mike taking a drum and creating a rhythmic storm and DK Rostant popular announcer with 100FM in T&T also taking up a drum the AVENUE throbbed with the sounds of drumming and the refrains of "when ah dead bury meh clothes".
The talk of the town for the weekend in T&T is LEGACY has sounded the call ..they are coming strong for Trinidad Carnival CK5.............
