The story filled with allegations against former UDeCOTT chairman Calder Hart is enough to write a book. Hart left Trinidad for Miami last week, but has returned to Trinidad and Tobago yesterday. What happens next is a question for the Director of Public Prosecutions according to Trinidad and Tobago Attorney General John Jeremie.

Trinidad Petrotrin sued in New York

Petrotrin has been sued by World GTL Incorporated and its subsidiary, World GTL (St Lucia), in the United States Federal Court in Manhattan, New York, seeking no less than $12 billion for their losses over the collapse and breach of contract of a joint venture project. The action arose out of the alleged wrongful taking and expropriation of a nearly-completed $3 billion gas-to-liquid plant, being constructed inside the Petrotrin refinery, Pointe-a-Pierre.

Beyonce ends I AM Tour in Trinidad after Carnival

Beyonce Knowles ended her I AM World Tour in Trinidad and Tobago last night to much pleasure. Beyonce aka Sasha Fierce, performing for her first time in Trinidad at the Queen's Park Savannah remarked that the people of Trinidad and Tobago know "how to party". Opening for Beyonce was Machel Montano and the HD Family, with Destra Garcia joining him for their hit combo, Is Carnival.

Palance wins Road March 2010

JW and Blaze with Palance have undoubtedly won Road March 2010 in Trinidad by leaps and bounds. Even without the official results being announced, Palance was easily the most played tune for Carnival 2010. It will be more difficult to figure out who place second and third in the Road March race. An official with the NCC, has even stated there is really no reason to tally the figures.

In fact Palance has now launched the dynamic duo of Jason Williams and Ancil Isaac otherwise known as JW and Blaze into the International Soca Monarch history as they beat Fay-Ann Lyons-Alvarez into second place while palancing with the crowd. Some even believe that Palance will also take the Road March title come Carnival Tuesday.

Brian Lara home robbed

The Lady Chancellor mansion of former West Indies star Brian Lara has been robbed. A safe with close to TT$1 million was reported missing as well as more than 40 VVIP tickets for the upcoming B3 Beyonce I AM concert. The vault also contained personal items belonging to Lara. Police said the theft was discovered during the early hours on February 3rd, 2010. Police have held eight individuals in connection with the robbery.

Climate change hypocrisy in Trinidad and Tobago

As environmental groups in Trinidad and Tobago oppose the construction of an aluminum smelter, the Prime Minister, Patrick Manning, who supports the construction, confirmed that Trinidad will be represented at the climate change talks in Copenhagen, Denmark next week. This came after it was announced that the Port of Spain Climate Change Consensus – The Commonwealth Climate Change Declaration was signed after the CHOGM held in Trinidad this week.

Obama and Hu may attend CHOGM in Trinidad and Tobago

United States President Barack Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao may attend the Commonwealth Heads Of Goverment Meeting in Trinidad and Tobago. They might be joined by other non-Commonwealth leaders including Prime Minister of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapetero, and President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. This became a possibility after Obama and Hu were unable to hammer out a firm agreement on climate change during the visit of Preseident Obama to China recently.

Anya Ayoung-Chee in sex tape scandal - Former Trinidad and Tobago Miss Universe contestant

Former Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2008 contestant, Anya Ayoung-Chee has a sex tape which was supposedly swiped from the laptop of her boyfriend, Wyatt Gallery. According to TMZ, Wyatt Gallery confirmed Ayoung-Chee was in the tape with him and another woman, but the other woman was not Miss Japan Hiroko Mima. Gallery claims the video with him, Ayoung-Chee and another unidentified woman was swiped while at a PC repair shop in Trinidad.

Breathalyser law takes effect in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago Works Minister Colm Imbert announced yesterday that President George Maxwell Richards would proclaim the act which will allow the use of the breathalyser in Trinidad and Tobago on Monday. The Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Amendment Act, which allowed for the use of a breathalyser, was first passed under the United National Congress administration but was never implemented.

Jah Cure denies Trinidad arrest

SoBe Entertainment/Danger Zone Recording artiste Jah Cure has just returned from performing at the concert dubbed “It’s Cure Again” in Trinidad and Tobago. Jah Cure’s trip to Trinidad and Tobago was not without incident however, as an unscrupulous promoter, Handel Anthony, made efforts to prevent him from performing at the concert on Saturday night.

Jah Cure released in Trinidad and Tobago after paying US$19,993

Tobago concert promoter Handel Anthony, recouped US$19,993, that was owed to him by Jah Cure on Saturday. Justice Sebastien Ventour agreed with Anthony that the Jamaican reggae superstar breached his contract with Anthony, by headlining the “It’s Jah Cure Again” concert in Guaracara Park, Pointe-a-Pierre, Trinidad later that night.

Jah Cure arrested in Trinidad and Tobago

Jah Cure, aka Siccature Alcock, Jamaican reggae singer, was arrested in Trinidad and Tobago last night at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad Hotel. The reason for the charge is failure to pay a local business man money owed in the amount of US$ 19,993. The court order was issued by Justice Sebastian Ventor. Jah Cure was recently released from prison in Jamaica after serving time for rape.

New constitution for Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago political leaders, Prime Minister Patrick Manning and Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday have agreed in principle that Trinidad and Tobago needs a new constitution. Both leaders met yesterday at the newly constructed Diplomatic Centre in St. Ann’s, Trinidad. One stumbling block is in regards to the post of Executive President, with Panday and Manning at odds on the election process.

Trinidad and Tobago revolution coming

Makandal Daaga, head of NJAC, held a public consultation about the current Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago situation at the Scherzando Pan Yard in Curepe, where he announced a revolution, similar to the Black Power Movement of the 1970s, is coming to Trinidad and Tobago, if controversy surrounding UDeCOTT is not sorted out at present. Daaga annouced that he is willing to go to jail as well, just as he did 39 years ago.

Machel Montano and Beenie Man - friends for life

Beenie Man and Machel Montano were on stage together in Miami recently to dispel rumours that the two were at odds over a supposed altercation at a recent concert in Miami. Rumours were swirling that Machel Montano and his band sabotaged Beenie Man and his band while they were performing, causing Beenie Man’s microphone to continually malfunction.

Two more die from H1N1 in Trinidad and Tobago

Two more people have died from the H1N1 virus in Trinidad and Tobago. There are now four reported deaths related to swine flu in Trinidad and Tobago. Three deaths were at the San Fernando General Hospital while the fourth was at the Port Of Spain General Hospital. The deceased are a 28 year old man from Penal and a 62 year old business woman.

Two H1N1 deaths in Trinidad and Tobago reported

Trinidad and Tobago have confirmed two deaths from the the H1N1 virus, otherwise incorrectly known as the swine flu. A third death is also currently under investigation. This has been confirmed by the Trinidad and Tobago Health Minister Jerry Narace, at a press conference at the Ministry Of Health in Port Of Spain, Trinidad. All cases were from the San Fernando General Hospital.

Carnival bandleaders not happy with mobile toilet ban

Trinidad and Tobago Carnival bandleaders are set to face off with the Port Of Spain Mayor and other stakeholders tomorrow over a proposed band on mobile restrooms. The bands are arguing that the mobile washrooms have become the norm for all-inclusive bands, and have already been purchased as part of the all-inclusive packages for next year’s Carnival.

England has recruited a number of stars including Trinidad and Tobago international Kenwyne Jones to help boost their bid to host the World Cup in 2018. This announcement comes on the heels of FIFA Vice President, CONCACAF President and TTFF Special Advisor Jack Warner’s recent stinging criticism of the English FA’s management of the bid.

Manchester United FC have extended an invitation to the young Trinidad and Tobago Soca Warriors to attend the game versus Arsenal this coming Saturday at Old Trafford. The invitation followed a meeting between FIFA Vice President and TTFF Technical Advisor Jack Warner and the English FA almost one month ago.

Trinidad and Tobago second to Jamaica in 4x100 relay in record time

Jamaica continued their domination of the World Championships in Berlin, Germany, by winning the 4x100m men’s relay, with Trinidad and Tobago taking the silver in a national record time of 37.62 seconds. The Trinidad and Tobago team was Darrel Brown, Marc Burns, Emmanuel Callander and Richard Thompson.

Renny Quow strikes bronze for Trinidad and Tobago

The World Championships in Berlin, Germany is turning out to be an excellent games for Trinidad and Tobago. Renny Quow won an unlikely bronze medal for Trinidad and Tobago in the 400m yesterday. Quow, posted a 45.02 to claim this country’s second medal in two days. “I worked really hard this season,” said the 23-year-old national champion.
