Usain Bolt for long jump event

Stop the press, World Record holder Usain Bolt is thinking about adding the long jump as on his list of events. The Jamaican sprint star said yesterday he would like to try the long jump some day. If Bolt comes close to the standards he has set in the sprints, the world record of 8.95 metres could be in danger some day, although he said the addition of a new event to his schedule was not around the corner.

Trinidad and Tobago second to Jamaica in 4x100 relay in record time

Jamaica continued their domination of the World Championships in Berlin, Germany, by winning the 4x100m men’s relay, with Trinidad and Tobago taking the silver in a national record time of 37.62 seconds. The Trinidad and Tobago team was Darrel Brown, Marc Burns, Emmanuel Callander and Richard Thompson.

The World Championships in Berlin, Germany is turning out to be an excellent games for Trinidad and Tobago. Renny Quow won an unlikely bronze medal for Trinidad and Tobago in the 400m yesterday. Quow, posted a 45.02 to claim this country’s second medal in two days. “I worked really hard this season,” said the 23-year-old national champion.

Tobagonian Josanne Lucas claims 400m hurdles bronze

Tobagonian Josanne Lucas has won the bronze medal in the 400m hurdles at the World Championships in Berlin yesterday. The Tobago lass is the first female athlete from Trinidad and Tobago to earn a medal at the global track and field meet. “We did it,” a relieved Lucas exclaimed after the race. “I knew it was going to take a huge personal best.”

Usain Bolt shatters 100m World Record - 9.58

Usain Bolt has shattered his own 100m World Record yesterday in Berlin at the World Championships 2009. Bolt blew away his own world record by a massive .11 seconds, clocking 9.58 seconds and made chief competition Tyson Gay seem slow despite setting a U.S. record of 9.71 seconds. “I got a pretty good start,” Bolt said. “I was there at 20 meters and that was it.”

Usain Bolt has new dance for World Championship

Jamaican sprint king Usain Bolt says he has a special dance planned if he wins his events at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics which runs off today in Berlin, Germany. Speaking at a press conference hosted by his sponsors Puma at Yaam Social Club on the banks of the River Spree in the west of the German capital yesterday, Bolt said he was looking forward to the showdown with Tyson Gay and will celebrate in a special manner if he wins.

The links to the dubious websites have been reported since November, 2008, but it does not appear that a lot has been done to correct the issues.

Usain Bolt not running at full steam

The current Olympic champion and World Record holder Usain Bolt is only running at 85 percent. Bolt has made this statement going into the London Grand Prix, the final meet before next month’s all important World Championships. According to Bolt, “Yes, I’m not in the best shape of my life, but I’m still in good shape, probably 85 per cent”.

Usain Bolt breaks 100m World Record at 9.72

Usain Bolt, in an event not considered his best, has broken the 100m record at 9.72 seconds. The previous record was 9.74 seconds held by fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell. Bolt broke the record at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York. Bolt is now the world's fastest man.

Asafa Powell blazes 9.97 in Serbia

World record holder Asafa Powell sped to a world leading victory in 9.97 seconds to capture the 100 metres at the Artur Takac Memorial in Serbia yesterday evening. In the top performance of the night, Powell outgunned a pair of Caribbean colleagues and was very pleased to deliver the sub-10 clocking he was hoping for in front of 15,000 fans at Partizan Stadium.

Asafa Powell is Commonwealth Games Athlete Of The Year 2006

The awards for Asafa Powell keep pouring in as he was yesterday presented with the Commonwealth Games Sports Foundation Athlete of the Year. English-based Al Hamilton, founder of the foundation, made the presentation to the world 100m record holder inside the University of Technology's (UTech) Alfred Sangster Auditorium.

Asafa Powell leads the way in Stockholm

Powell and Brooks sweep Commonwealth 100m gold

Jamaica struck double gold yesterday when home-grown world record holder Asafa Powell, and SheriAnn Brooks swept the coveted 100 metres for men and women at the 18th Commonwealth Games in Melbourne Australia. Powell earned his first gold medal at a major international meet, winning the Commonwealth Games 100-metre title in 10.03 seconds.

Powell too good for them

Asafa Powell, the fastest man in the world, has promised something special for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. After racing to a comfortable 10.29 seconds victory at yesterday's Telstra A-Series, the first leg of the World Athletics Tour 2006 at Melbourne's Olympic Park, Powell told journalists that there are more in store.
