Vybz Kartel under investigation for five more murders

Vybz Kartel, real name Adidja Palmer, has already been charged and is in police custody without bail for two murders thus far. The police are also investigating other individuals in the entertainment industry. Vybz Kartel faces a December 2 court date in regards to his current murder and drug-related charges.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Assistant Commissioner Ealan Powell, said probes carried out by detectives have implicated Kartel in five additional murders that took place in the Corporate Area and St Catherine. ACP Powell said charges are expected to be laid against the controversial DJ soon.
On October 3, Kartel was charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm in connection with the killing of businessman Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton. Weeks later, the artiste was slapped with the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. Williams was beaten and stabbed on August 16 at a house in Havendale, St Andrew. Kartel’s Portmore Empire proteges, Shawn Storm and Andre “Mad Suss” St. John, his designer, Calvin “Moonie Haye as well as Cayro Jones were jointly charged in Williams’ murder.
In other damning news, prosecution in the murder case of entertainer Vybz Kartel and his three co-accused revealed that it has video and telephone evidence tying the accused men to the killing of a man in August of this year. According to the Crown, the evidence, when disclosed in full to the defence, will cause the lawyers to advise their clients to plead guilty to the charges against them.
It was not specified which of the accused men were on the video but the Court was told the it showed Clive 'Lizard' Williams being mobbed and beaten to death. The revelation was made when the men appeared before Senior Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.
In additional news, six policemen who were assigned to the Gun Court Remand Centre have been transferred and are facing certain corruption charges after they were allegedly caught on camera taking money from a close relative of jailed popular entertainer Vybz Kartel. Investigators from the police Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) followed one of the policemen from the Gun Court Remand Centre to the home of a close relative of the deejay where he was videotaped taking money from her.
The damning video also showed one policeman accepting money from a suspect in one of Kartel's murder cases in exchange for his being allowed to visit the deejay in a restricted area of the lock-up, said a source. The visit is said to have taken place before the man was arrested in connection with the murder case.
The man, the source noted, was not searched before being allowed into an area of the facility which is off limits to members of the public. The source also said the man spent a considerable amount of time talking to Kartel, while other police officers stood by and did nothing to bring the illicit visit to a halt.
