Brian Lara home robbed

A safe with close to TT$1 million was reported missing as well as more than 40 VVIP tickets for the upcoming B3 Beyonce I AM concert. The vault also contained personal items belonging to Lara. Police said the theft was discovered during the early hours on February 3rd, 2010. Police have held eight individuals in connection with the robbery.
Annmarie Marcano, a former domestic helper of batting legend Brian Charles Lara has been granted bail by a Justice of the Peace, after she was charged with stealing from the household. Marcano, of Cameron Hill, Maraval, was ordered to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate tomorrow. Marcano was dismissed by Lara on December, 31, 2009. Police said Lara had intentions to re-hire Marcano effective tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a 50-year-old close friend of Lara, who was detained by police in connection with the disappearance of the
safe containing TT$1 million in cash and jewelry from Lara’s home, has been
released pending further investigations. The man, a relative of a
well-known TV personality, was being described by police as the main
suspect. Close to $500,000 in mixed currency and $500,000 in jewelry
were in the safe which was stolen from Lara’s house some time last
Tuesday night.
Police have also arrested seven foreign nationals and seized items believed to be stolen from the home of batting legend Brian Charles Lara, at a house in El Socorro, San Juan, yesterday.The men, six Guyanese and one Jamaican, were held at house at Farouk Drive. Police seized five laptop computers, a signature cricket bat and a pair of cricket pads. Investigators said one of the laptops disappeared from Lara’s home, last year.
The seven suspects were taken into custody. Four of the men, police
said, were in the country illegally. Up to late yesterday, the
suspects, ages 20 to 30, were being interviewed by detectives at the
Port Of Spain CID, in connection with the February 2 theft at Lara’s
Knaggs Hill, Port-of-Spain home.
