The prime suspect in the Vindra Naipaul-Coolman kidnapping and murder case, Allan "Scanny" Martin turned himself in late yesterday while Lyndon James, the tenth suspect arrested attempting to board a flight to St. Vincent, made his first appearance in court earlier in the day.

Allan Martin was arrested outside the television studios of state owned Caribbean New Media Group (CNMG). His intention was to make a public statement before being taken into custody. To that end Martin achieved his goal after arriving shortly after 9:50pm. "The police know what mischief they are up to," he said while calling the names of two high ranking police officers.

Martin also claimed that all people charged, now numbering eleven, will be freed. He said he gave himself up in December 2006, on suspicion in the Vindra case, but was released shortly after. Mr. Martin claims he is willing to assist in the investigation however, "how can you cut a deal, if you don’t know anything?" Since his voluntary surrender in December, after being released he said there have been multiple attempts on his life.

He was arrested by Trinidad and Tobago Police shortly after his public statement accompanied by his lawyer, Larry Williams. In related news, Lyndon "Iron" James made his first appearance in court after being intercepted at Piarco Airport attempting to board a flight to St. Vincent.

James is a 35 year old, air condition technician, and is the oldest of the eleven people charged in connection with the Naipaul-Coolman case.
