Buju Banton is appealing to his supporters to stay away from the court whenever he is appearing for his current trial. A release from Penthouse Music Distributors, the company to which Banton is signed, quoting the popular entertainer whose right name is Mark Myrie, as saying that although he was grateful for the support, he was appealing to his supporters to desist from turning up at court.
Myrie, who is scheduled to reappear in court on October 19 is quoted as saying: "I am overwhelmed and honoured that so many people care about my welfare, and I thank them all for their encouragement ... however, I appeal to all my supporters to not gather at the courthouse whenever I attend court. I do wish all my supporters pray for me as I put my trust in the father."

Myrie also apologised to the court for the disturbance that occurred after his last court date. "I deeply apologise to the court for the interruption my supporters have caused. I also apologise to the motoring public for any delays you might have experienced that day, when my supporters rushed across Maxfield Avenue."

A large number of supporters were reported to have disrupted the flow of traffic along the Maxfield Avenue on September 30, when they met Myrie in the middle of the road as he left the courtyard.

Myrie was charged, along with Horace Hill, for assault in connection with an incident on June 24, last year during which it is alleged that a group of men were beaten after they were accused of being homosexuals.

He was arrested and charged on a warrant and taken before the Night Court where he was granted bail.
