Reggae: Bounty Killer dad dies

Constantine Basil Pryce, the father of ace deejay Bounty Killer died yesterday after being ill. Bounty Killer, whose real name is Rodney Pryce, is said to have shared a good relationship with his dad. Bounty Killer's only comment was, "Mi a ask everybody fi pray fi mi."

While thousands of fans worldwide cannot get enough of Olympic 2008 Gold medalist Asafa Powell's recent displays of the 'Nuh Linga' and 'Gully Creeper' dance moves, his two biggest fans, his parents, are not pleased with dancing at all. Rev. William Powell and his wife, Cislyn, are "not happy" about Asafa's recent indulgence in dancehall moves and are praying that the sprint sensation stops doing them.

Mavado firmly solidified his claim to one of the top dancehall reggae entertainers after a brilliant performance at Reggae Sumfest 2008, Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre, in Montego Bay. Mavado eclipsed the Warlord, Bounty Killer, who on Thursday night was arrested after a tirade of profanities.

It appears Moses "Beenie Man" Davis and Michelle "D'Angel" Downer are reconciling their differences and all indications appear that the former Jamaica power couple are being civil once more. Beenie Man has definitely been seeing their baby, Marco Dean very frequently as well. Beenie and D'Angel have also been spotted at Weddy Weddy.

Beenie Man has lashed out at Junior Gong and Stephen Marley in an interview with Chris Goldfinger of BBC Radio. The feud according to Beenie Man kicked off at a concert in The Bahamas in April of 2008 in which the performance of Beenie Man was cut short due to time restrictions.

Reggae: Gun charges dropped against Mavado

Word from Jamaica is that all charges against Mavado, aka David Brooks have been dropped by Jamaica's Director Of Public Prosecutions. Mavado was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and two counts of shooting with intent related to a shooting incident on July 27, 2007 at Mannings Hill Road in St. Andrew. Mavado was arrested in March of 2008.

Usain Bolt, in an event not considered his best, has broken the 100m record at 9.72 seconds. The previous record was 9.74 seconds held by fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell. Bolt broke the record at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York. Bolt is now the world's fastest man.
