A 24-year-old man labelled by police as being ?a pest,? was yesterday shot to death by a lone gunman in what investigators believe was a gang-related incident.
By Denyse RenneAccording to police reports, at around 5.45 pm, Moosai Sandy, of Factory Road, Diego Martin, was liming at Red Hill Extension, John Street, Morvant, when someone told him he was wanted ?up the hill.?
Moosai reportedly left but as he approached a house at #10 John Street, a man ran up to him and fired several shots. The man then ran off.
A resident of the area said she heard a loud explosion, followed by several explosions and thought a transformer had blown.
?It was five minutes after that someone came down the hill and tell me that a man get shoot up the road and he dead,? the resident said.
Investigators found Sandy?s body clad in a blue three quarter pants, blue sleeveless vest and a black shoes.
He was lying at the side of the road with several gunshot wounds to his upper body, including his chest and face.
Investigators believe a shotgun was used and they recovered several spent shells and pellets.
A source said they are working along the lines that Sandy left his Diego Martin home some weeks ago following an altercation with a rival gang and sought ?refuge? in Morvant.
They also believe the suspect who killed Sandy is from the Morvant area.
A team of investigators led by Sen Supt Bishop and including Ag Insp Coa,Sgt Abraham Cpls Vidale,Ramjit, PCs Holman and Pinder visited the scene.
Vidale is continuing investigations.
