International reggae artist Shaggy will sing at two major concerts in India in October. The concerts will be held Oct 1 in New Delhi and Oct 3 in Mumbai and feature THE STAR's new tracks like "Hotshot", "Luv Me" and "Get My Party On".

He will also render old favourites like "Strength of a Woman", "Oh Carolina", "Boombastic", "In the Summertime" and "It Wasn't Me".

"These concerts are bound to draw a huge audience. There are lots of people who love reggae in this country," said T. Venkat Vardhan, managing director of DNA Networks that is organising the events.

Reggae's bad boy, who is renowned for his tongue-in-cheek lyrics and sexy stage act, has seen six of his singles go platinum.

One of these, "Boombastic", won him a Grammy in 1995. The Jamaica-born, US-based star has performed in over 75 countries and has sold a whopping 10 million albums worldwide.

Mobile phone handset giant Nokia, one of the main sponsors of the concerts, is planning special ringtones, phone covers and downloads for the event.

"We see a strong affinity between mobility and music," Sanjeev Sharma, managing director of Nokia India, told a news conference to announce the event here Tuesday.

This would also be the first time that the Delhi government is pitching in to promote a concert by an international artist. The Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation (DTTDC) will back the event to promote tourism in the Indian capital.

"Shaggy's performance will certainly be an interesting event, specially for the younger generation," said Ramesh Negi, managing director of DTTDC.

He hoped that as fans troop in from across India for the concert, they would also take time off and check out Delhi's historical haunts.
