The popular annual Carnival party at $450 a ticket this year was held at Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (Carec) at Federation Park.
Timmy and Rupee were the two Barbadian artistes performing at the fete but Rupee had the crowd, especially the women, literally eating out his hands when he sang "Tempted to Touch".
During Timmy's performance of "Bumper Ketch ah Fire" at the well attended fete, some members of the crowd, who were a few minutes before jumping and waving to the music of Roy Cape All Stars, went silent.
Patrons, especially those at the front of the stage, stood still with their arms folded.
Others shouted remarks such as "Go fry some flying fish" at Timmy while others asked for the next performer.
Timmy was however unfazed and continued his performance.
When he spoke with the Express later, Timmy admitted the response was poor compared to performances at other fetes.
He made reference to his performance at Brass Festival on Saturday where he said, "Everybody was enjoying themselves to my song."
He acknowledged that the crowd response to him at the Carec fete was poor but in the same breath said he had nothing to do with the fishing controversy between Trinidad and Tobago and his homeland Barbados.
He added he did not want to get involved in the debate.
Later, partygoers attending Jamboree's fete at Pier I reacted enthusiastically when Timmy performed, leading one patron to remark that perhaps younger people were more in tune with Timmy's music as opposed to the more "mature" crowd at the Carec fete.
