Six days after he went missing, police found the decomposed body of a 17-year-old Rio Claro boy in a forested track close to his home on Sunday.
By Radhica SookrajPolice believe Visham Ramcharan killed himself after he wrecked his stepfather?s BMW wagon under a truck, sometime during the Emancipation weekend.
Investigators said Ramcharan?s mother and stepfather left him home alone to spend the holiday weekend at Mayaro beach.
They asked him to go to the beach with them, but Ramcharan begged his stepfather to allow him to stay at home alone. The stepfather, who owns a business on Tabaquite Road, Rio Claro, agreed.
However, while at home alone, Ramcharan took the keys to his stepfather?s BMW wagon and tried to drive it around the yard. He ended up crashing the wagon into the back of a truck parked in the yard.
When his parents returned home last Monday, they realised Ramcharan was missing. They searched at the homes of friends, but could not find him.
Police said the parents surmised that Ramcharan may have run away because he had wrecked the car. It was only around 5 am on Sunday that passers-by alerted the police that a decomposed body had been seen on the grass along Cunapo Southern Road.
Police contacted Ramcharan?s parents, who identified the body. An autopsy conducted yesterday revealed that Ramcharan had ingested a poisonous substance.
