The statement said the artistes met at the home of a mutual friend and sorted out their differences, after which they tearfully hugged and agreed to apologise for the disappointing turn of events.
?The terrible misunderstanding stemmed from a genuine mix-up over playing schedules, which got out of hand, and both women ask that fans and the public take into consideration that Carnival time is emotionally and physically stressful for artistes,? the statement read.
Proclaiming love and respect for each other, Belfon and Garcia stressed that the incident was now behind them, that they hold no grudge against each other and that they will continue to strive for professionalism as they keep their commitments home and abroad.
Destra, during her performance with Atlantik on Friday night at Republic Bank Sports Club?s Bankers fete at Pier 1, Chaguaramas, said the media had made out the issue to be bigger than it was.
She said she and Belfon were very close, and held up two entwined fingers in the air to indicate that sentiment.
Destra said no one was going to keep her down this year.
Belfon, who later performed at the same fete about an hour later, said there was no animosity between the two, that it was a misunderstanding the media took out of context.
Calling on Destra to join her on stage, Belfon was told Destra had left the venue.
