HIV-positive couple Preston Davis, 33, and Jonniebelle Welch, 43, sealed their love in marriage at the weekend.
By Phoolo Danny MaharajTheir love for each other was highlighted in the Express Woman Magazine earlier this year
For the occasion, the bride wore a slender fitting white dress and a shawl while the groom wore an off-white suit with a pink shirt and matching tie. Milicent Sylvester was mother giver for Preston, while Jonniebelle's eldest son Junior George gave away his mother.
Close friends and relatives of the couple and members of different AIDS organisations and HIV-positive victims attended the wedding.
Pastor Kelly said the couple, who have given their lives to preaching the Word of God, and talking to youths about the dangers of AIDS, will host a new programme on a local television station in a few weeks. The programme will be called Hi-5.
The couple met at the Golden Grove Maximum State Prison. Preston was a prisoner and Welch was a member of The Way of Holiness Church, who ministered to prisoners. They were both HIV-positive and shared a desire to talk to others about their lives and promote an awareness of the deadly AIDS disease. He had seen a picture of her and read of her life with the disease in an earlier Express Woman article and fell for her.
Preston has no children, but Jonniebelle has five. They do not plan on having children from their union.
