Legal tangles may prevent lover's rock king Beres Hammond from performing at the Guinness Bs Explosion stage show.

Despite being advertised as one of the major acts for the July 10 show, Beres Hammond's management team say he was not officially booked for the show and will not appear.

Beres, along with his manager Meredith Walsh, are still off the island completing an overseas tour, but a spokesperson for Harmony House told THE STAR that Beres is not billed for the show. Guinness Bs Explosion is being promoted by First Class Entertainment, and is scheduled for next Saturday (July 10) at the Guardian Life car park in New Kingston, St. Andrew. As part of the show's concept, it will feature only performers whose names begin with the letter B. The advertised roster of performers so far includes Bounty Killer, Buju Banton, Bunny Wailer, Beenie Man, Baby Cham, Beres Hammond, among others.

At the show's launch on Wednesday night, First Class Entertainment's CEO Douglas Gourzong told a group of reporters and media personnel that although there was doubt circulating that Beres would perform because he was now on an overseas tour, he had confirmation that Beres would be there.

"We were given a verbal agreement, and I stand firm by my decision to advertise Beres, we did not deceive the public," Gourzong stated.

"The contracts were to be sent to us before the tour, but they had an issue with something, and they were to get back to us on that aspect of the contract," he told the gathering.

Later, Gourzong gave THE WEEKEND STAR some insight that pointed to a possible misunderstanding between Harmony House and First Class Entertainment.

"We had a verbal committment from Ms. Walsh just before Beres went on tour recently," he continued. "They were supposed to get back to us to finalise the contract terms but because they are on tour there is a difficulty on working that aspect out. We were given a committment but we just did not have anything written yet."

Gourzong added, however, that on the weekend he should have more information available on the situation.
