Brazen gunmen yesterday invaded a yard in Craig Town and shot dead two men who were in the premises, despite a heavy police presence in Arnett Gardens and adjoining communities in South St Andrew.
By Karyl WalkerThe police said they were on patrol in the area at about midday when they heard a prolonged burst of gunfire in the Craig Town area. The lifeless bodies of two men were later found at a yard at 3B Pouyatt Street. Thirty spent shells from .45 semi-automatic pistols were seen on the ground, the police said.
The men were identified as 26 year-old Marlon Allen, alias "Tanso", of Pouyatt Street in Craig Town and a man known only as "Smokey" of Port Royal in eastern Kingston.
The death scene was a grisly sight. Allen's body lay slumped over in a crumpled heap. He was shot in the head, foot and arms. His left eye was also shot out.
"Smokey" lay face down in the parched earth about 10 feet away. His face was stained with dried with blood and dirt. By the time crime scene investigators had finished their forensic work, ants began to crawl in and out of his agape mouth.
Head of the Kingston West Police Division Superintendent Gary Griffiths, said yesterday's double killing was not connected to the continuous gunfight in the area.
