Adesh - performing War against AIDSThe first round, in which the performers were required to sing songs exploring the theme, HIV/Aids Has No Place In Our Society, saw Samaroo taking the stage accompanied by a battalion of supporters as he sang War Against Aids.

Employing an assortment of visual effects, costumed dancers and props depicting the scourge that is HIV/Aids, Samaroo had the audience singing along as he waged lyrical warfare upon the dreaded disease. In the song, Samaroo counseled that every Trinbagonian regardless of race, religion or social standing must come together to defeat HIV/Aids.

Round two required that the artistes perform a traditional chutney piece and Samaroo was well prepared for this. From the moment his name was called the crowd went wild, anticipating the performance he would deliver. The people were not disappointed as Samaroo delivered a flawless vocal performance of Sadhoo Baba, aided by several dancers, moko jumbies, colourful props and skilled musicians.

Even before he was announced as the winner the people were chanting his name, sure that the young singer from Tacarigua was the victor in a contest that had featured competitors delivering first class presentations throughout. As Samaroo appeared on stage to acknowledge his victory, he was embraced by Heeralal Rampartap who placed second. The patrons continued to cheer on Samaroo for minutes as he stood on stage with a wide smile pasted on his face.
