Trinidad and Tobago is considering investing in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in the United States, the top buyer of the island nation's gas, Trinidad's Energy Minister Eric Williams said on Monday...

"We've had several approaches, and we are in the process of deepening at least one of these conversations. We're at the point of considering a letter of intent with them," Williams told reporters at an energy conference.

He would not say where Trinidad and Tobago, already the largest supplier of LNG imports to the United States, could invest or which companies might be interested in the project.

The United States, the biggest energy consumer in the world, is seeking to build more LNG regasification terminals to meet swelling natural gas demand.
