Trinidad and Tobago made amends for a 2-1 defeat to Bermuda in Trinidad last weekend, with a 2-0 victory tonight in Hamilton, Bermuda before a sellout crowd. Bermuda was hoping for an improbable victory against the top rated Caribbean team. The goal scorers on the day were Daryll Roberts who is currently unattached from any club team and English First Division striker Stern John.
Trinidad and Tobago were without Premier League and Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones, who is likely to be out until March 2009 after an injury received in a clash with England goalkeeper David James during England's historic friendly against Trinidad and Tobago on June 1st 2008.
The Soca Warriors got of to a shaky start to its World Cup 2010 quest to South Africa, after losing 2-1 to lowly ranked Bermuda last weekend. Hamilton was full of confidence going into the return encounter. Players for the Bermudian team were anticipating a lot of pressure for the Trinidad and Tobago team to achieve the improbable.
However, Stern John and Daryll Roberts were up to the task ensuring an aggregate 3-2 victory for the Soca Warriors. Trinidad and Tobago now move into the group stages to join United States, Cuba and Guatemala. Roberts opened the scoring in the 10th minute, while Stern John ensured progress in the 69th minute converting a header from a Keon Daniel cross.
