Machel Montano laid stake to the Road March 2008 title at the annual Eyes Wide Shut fete held at Queen's Park Oval on Tuesday night. Machel had words for Blaxx in another spell binding performance, while Blaxx had words for Bunji Garlin in the Soca Monarch chase.
Shortly before Machel finished his set he bluntly stated, "Listen me, ah tell allyuh is threes. This year, I am not out of breath. I am full of breath. Blaxx, yuh hearin meh? Yuh get that? That's my Siparia brethren, so it's all good, but he cyah breathe!"And yuh see everybody know nobody could get on more than me! Nobody could get on more than me! Yeah, I said it. Did I stutter? Ah hope he hearing meh yuh know. Ah sending the challenge right now: cause is flame on!"
Montano's latest release "Flame On" has been a highly anticipated album. In what was surprising in a Carnival fete, Montano appeared to be looking backstage awaiting Blaxx, in similar fashion to reggae dancehall clashes.
After Machel finished his set, Roy Cape All Stars, including Blaxx did appear. Blaxx did not respond the Machel's bold statement, however, he did have a word for Bunji Garlin, fellow competitor in Soca Monarch on Friday night. He said, "Bunji say he go cuff meh in muh face with music if ah beat him in Soca Monarch. Well, ah want to tell Bunji, that come Friday night, he a-- is grass and I am the lawnmower!"
Well we will certainly see what is to come.
