Guinness Sting 2007 failed to live to the usual hype of years past. Most of the patrons left feeling shortchanged with no clash taking place and sub par performances from many of the featured acts including Ninjaman, Bounty Killer and even Vybez Kartel.
Ninjaman tried his very best to lively up the venue as he called out earnestly to Bounty Killer and the absent Beenie Man to clash him. Aidonia beckoned to Munga Honourable, who was also absent and even D'Angel, also absent was called up mockingly by Spice.
Ninjaman was in a clashing mood and made this feeling known from early. Unfortunately for him and the crowd, Ninjaman left without clashing or killing any deejays that night.
According to many reports Mavado came on early out and unleashed a barrage of his gun tunes and girl tunes. He hailed up Vybez Kartel in the venue, did a couple more tunes then left. Bounty Killer soon followed and started off his set rather weak. Not until he released a verbal lashing on long time nemesis Beenie Man, did the venue erupt in delight.
There are many over at dancehallreggae.com that believe if Beenie Man was there Sting 2007 might have been a success, with the possibility of long needed verbal clash for Sting. Beenie Man confirmed earlier last week that he definitely would not perform at Sting 2007, even with a puported J$2 million dollar performance fee including clash. Isaiah Laing categorically denied this amount.
The annual Sting stageshow has always been known for the "war vibes" associated with it. Sting 2007 will always be remembered as an abysmal failure with very little action and eventually fizzled to nothing with some patrons even walking out of the venue at a very early hour.
