Violence, similar to what was reported earlier has continued this week in Trinidad and Tobago with the murder Shawn Douglas, an activist for UNC Alliance. Douglas is a member of Lennox Smith's campaign team. Douglas was murdered when a man walked up to him and shot him in his face.

Co-leader of the UNC Alliance Basdeo Panday commented on the murder, "All I can tell you is that is a tragedy. That's an absolute tragedy and we condemn any kind of violence. The UNC has beaten the PNM three times in Trinidad, getting more votes than them and we didn't have to resort to any kind of violence to achieve that.

"We shall do it again without violence. Violence is not part of our culture, violence is more part of the culture of the PNM, as they indicated in the last election where they hired thugs to prevent people from going to the polls."

On the previous night, an attempt was made to bomb a car outside the office of San Juan/Barataria candidate Nazeemool Mohammed.
