Norris Man has not said much after the infamous brawl at St. Mary Mi Come From, Capleton's annual stage show. Norris Man was mobbed and beaten by members of Sizzla's entourage after making a statement concerning the mother of Sizzla.
In a recent interview with THE STAR, Norrisman admitted that he didn't really talk about the incident unless he was asked, as he intended to just forget about the whole thing and move on.Many, however, say that the incident which unfolded at 'St. Mary Mi Come From' stemmed from a much earlier misunderstanding about songs. It was rumoured that Sizzla believed that Norrisman's song with the line 'big long gun guh over dem yard', was a counteraction to Sizzla's Big Long Gun which was recorded on Snow Cone's Applause rhythm.
"So far, I was told that Sizzla thought that my song on the Red Bull and Guinness riddim was counteracting his song he recorded on Snow Cone's Applause riddim, but that is not so. My song at the end of the day is correcting him (Sizzla) and he's mistaking a correction for a counteraction. I don't do counteraction; if him want a counteraction him go and check Ninja Man," Norrisman said.
Recalling the incident at 'St. Mary Mi Come From', Norrisman says he would only accept some of the blame for what happened because he should not have told Sizzla about his mother.
Take some blame
"The only reason why I would take some of the responsibility or blame is because I also have a mother, so I shouldn't have told him (Sizzla) about his. But in Jamaica, that is like the hottest thing yuh can tell a man," Norrisman said.
He further explained that the reason he stood up to Sizzla, even though he did not have an entourage to defend him against Sizzla's, was because he was embarrassed.
"The only time I mek up my mind to die is when a man dis mi in front of people. Wi all know what embarrassment is. Me wey inna di business for nearly 20 years an Sizzla tell me fi 'get off di bomclat stage eediat'. I wasn't going to take dat. Maybe if the altercation took place backstage I would not have said that, because it would not have been so embarrassing. They also claimed that some man in Sizzla's entourage got injured backstage, but that was not instigated by me, that must have been one of my fans," Norrisman said.
He also issued a warning to Sizzla and members of his entourage saying, "they know that they can't even try that again, no time again and I don't even have to tell them that."
Norrisman says Sizzla was somebody whom he respected, but money and hype have a way of changing people.
"Don't feel that what happen to me is not a lesson to be learnt. Friends in these times nuh work. Once money come into play, mankind change. I think Sizzla is a very educated yout, but yuh have a ting call hype wey a run di business so having more money and people around him throw him out a place," Norrisman said.
"Most a Sizzla original rasta fren dem nuh roun him again, like when him use to do song like Babylon Gi Dem A Ride Fi Dem Money, Black Woman And Child and dem song deh. What he should do is go back and look in himself and remember where him coming from, cause is like him heavens lick. Most people si sey Sizzla start move different," Norrisman said.
Dissing friends
He also added, "Sizzla only a dis him fren dem, all now him nuh dis him real enemy. I remember when Sizzla dis Bascom X on stage who use to look up to him. I can remember when Sizzla use to sidestep Turbulence and don't talk to him, a yout wey did look up to him. I remember the days when mi woulda si Sizzla inna di streets an a me first haffi guh hail him, him nah hail me first an dat been going on for years an dat neva bother me. But now it different, no artiste is bigger than me, I am thinking about me now."
So for now, things may never be the same between Norrisman and Sizzla, but Norrisman says he has nothing against Sizzla and according to mutual friends, the same holds true for Sizzla.
"If I go to a stage show tomorrow and I see them (Sizzla and entourage), I not going over to them, but if they come over and show love, I will embrace it, but now, I would be the last person to go over to him (Sizzla). But mutual friends have told me that 'Dadda' don't have anything against me, even though I haven't heard it from Sizzla himself," Norrisman said.
Sizzla in the meantime is currently in New York, after which he will embark on a tour of Africa.
