News: JCF, Toronto cops to expand agreement

As Government continues to look overseas for international assistance to tackle the country's crime problem, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and the Toronto Police are now pursuing the possibility of expanding their co-operation agreement to include liaison officers in both countries...

Fantino in JamaicaThis was disclosed Monday by Police Commissioner Francis Forbes, following a lengthy meeting with Toronto Police Chief, Julian Fantino, who arrived in the island last Friday on a one-week visit.

The JCF already has liaison officers in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Reports are that Commissioner Forbes and Chief Fantino discussed issues related to organised crime, money laundering, gangs, guns and drugs.

The liaison officers on either borders will provide the respective organisation with vital information.

"There will be an exchange programme and in a few weeks time some of our senior officers will be going to Toronto to explore their system," said Commissioner Forbes.
