In a statement to the media, the management of Zen announced that the nightclub would open for business as usual. "The media reports that Zen was closed due to the revocation of our license came as a surprise to us," the release stated.
"We would like all to know that should we suffer any damage to our business, we are prepared to take legal action as it was not true that any license was revoked.""Zen is the Caribbean's premiere entertainment venue and is considered one of the best clubs in the world. We will continue to maintain our high standards and first-class service."
On Wednesday, the venue was closed by police following a decision by the Licensing Committee for the St George West area to revoke Zen's special restaurant license, because of its failure to produce a health certificate.
According to court officials, health officers from the Port of Spain City Corporation inspected the building yesterday and approved the health certificate. The document was presented to the court yesterday, which issued the special restaurant licence.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Winston Cooper yesterday said: "The matter is now rectified so Zen now has legitimacy to open."
