Although under a 24-hour police guard, robbers struck again at the Prime Minister’s Whitehall office, at Queen’s Park West, Port-of-Spain. A 25-inch Sharp colour television, a Sony stereo with speakers, a fax machine and a remote control were reported missing .

According to reports, on February 23, Gregory Harracksingh, an administrative officer, last saw the items in a store room.
Upon checking on March 13, Harracksingh discovered the items missing, and notified the police.
Detectives said there was no sign of forced entry and after dusting the crime scene, no fingerprints were found.
Statements were taken from the staff by the police.
It was the second time thieves struck Whitehall, even though the building is guarded closely by officers of the Special Branch and Guard and Emergency unit, 24 hours a day.
Two cordless phones valued at $700 were stolen on February 17, from Stollmeyer’s Castle, adjacent to the PM’s Whitehall office.
On October 18, 2006, two tea cups and two mugs belonging to the Prime Minister were reported missing from the pantry at Whitehall.
The kitchen wares were given as gifts to the Prime Minister from foreign heads of states.
Dishes, ice buckets and other kitchen utensils valued at $1,600 were also stolen.
Up to late yesterday, no suspects were held or items recovered by the police.
Officers of the St Clair Police Station are continuing investigations.
Deputy Commissioner of Crime and Operations Winston Cooper said the building was guarded by the police, and the matter was being investigated by the Port-of-Spain CID.
“If the investigations disclose who the perpetrators are, they will be dealt with according to the law,” he said.
