The embattled Haitian President flew out into exile, possibly to South Africa, in the early hours of Sunday morning as a rebel army laid siege to the capital, Port-au-Prince.

Yesterday Prime Minister Patrick Manning and Foreign Affairs Minister Knowlson Gift met in a special meeting to discuss developments in Haiti.

Gift confirmed that an emergency Caricom heads of government meeting was scheduled for tomorrow in Jamaica. He said all heads of government are expected to attend.

Looks like the Caricom has no pull...they asked the big countries to back the Aristide leadership and that request was obviously overlooked or disregarded...
