They are questioning the authority of the clerks or the licensing officers to conduct eye tests, even if a medical certificate is produced.
"Even if you go with a medical certificate from a doctor, the clerks demand that you 'Read the Chart,'' before they renew your permit," one angry motorist told the Express.
Another said the clerks at a South licensing office refused to renew his permit because he did not read the chart for her. "She told me to go and check an eye doctor and get a pair of glasses (spectacles) before I come back to renew my driver's permit "She was totally rude and it was evident that she had no customer relations training at all," he said. He said he simply went to another licensing office and renewed his permit.
