Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Pryce, aka the Warlord, was found hiding from the law in bushes in White Horses, St. Thomas, after police tried to prosecute him for using indecent and abusive language at his comeback show 'Saddle to the East' on Saturday.
By Teino Evans/ Francine BlackAccording to police reports, officers told Bounty Killer at the show, which was held at Good Year Oval in St. Thomas, that they were going to prosecute him for using indecent language. He reportedly drove off and parked his car in the White Horses area and ran into bushes. Police officers who were following the Warlord went into the bushes where they found and arrested him.
However, the series of events at the show which led to the Warlord's arrest started with Twin of Twins' failure to adhere to the stern warning of the police, not to use expletives.
The Twins, after thrilling the audience with their popular single, I Need Vagina, explained lyrically on the Eighty-Five rhythm, 'what transpired in Portland' at Bling Dawg's 'Summer Jam' show.
Public Apology
After the Twins' performance, police personnel accosted them, but after much pleading and bargaining, the police agreed to give them a chance under the condition that they re-take the stage and make a public apology. This they did.
Other artistes also found it difficult to adhere to the strict 'no cursing' rule the police officers on location were intent on upholding. It was, however, Sizzla's statement, "Yow wi bun police" and their subsequent attempt to apprehend him onstage that sparked a mini riot, with patrons hurling bottles unto the stage.
It was only the sound of the Warlord's voice over the microphone that managed to restore some amount of order, as the shots fired by members of the police force did nothing to help the situation.
However, Bounty Killer's cross, angry and miserable mood only led him to belt out a string of expletives, as he blamed the police for causing the disruption to the show.
"Yow, a dem bay bwoy police always a come mash up people tings," he cursed over the microphone.
Following his stint onstage, Bounty was warned but left the venue. Unconfirmed reports say the police are also looking for Sizzla.
The Killer's arrest reportedly sparked protests and roadblocks in the Grants Pen and White Horses area of St. Thomas. However, the blockages were cleared, THE STAR understands. Police were unable to confirm the protests.
Bounty Killer has been charged with using indecent language and abusive language. He was granted $50,000 station bail and is to appear in the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court in St. Thomas, on Wednesday.
