Six men, described by police as primary suspects, were arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning in connection with robbing 11 British nationals on Carnival Tuesday night.

The suspects, ranging between 19 and 25 years old, were held at various houses in Maraval and Diego Martin shortly after 4 am by members of the North-Eastern Division Task Force.

The tourists were staying at a private Maracas Bay home when five bandits stormed in and made off with more than TT$100,000 worth of cash, clothing, jewelry and household items.

Among the victims was John Hughes, a former English chief inspector of police.

The suspects are expected to be placed on an identification parade tomorrow.
