Popular entertainer Frisco Kid has been freed of carnal abuse charges that were laid when the 15-year-old girl who accused him told police in April 2004 that she had a sexual relationship with the entertainer.
By Rasbert TurnerBut on Tuesday, when she appeared in court, attorney-at-law Ms. Althea Grant submitted on behalf of Frisco Kid that subsequent to the initial report, the girl had suggested that she had not been truthful about the allegations. The complainant then admitted in court that she had lied about the relationship and that the two never had sex.
PUBLIC MISCHIEF
Resident Magistrate, Lorna Errar-Gayle, instructed the investigating officer to collect a further statement from the juvenile and to charge her for creating public mischief.
Frisco Kid was charged with carnal abuse in 2004. At that time, the court was told that sometime in 2003, the accused and the 15-year-old met on several occasions at his house, where they had sex. The alleged affair was revealed when the juvenile wrote to a relative expressing her love and commitment to the entertainer.
The relative reported the matter to the police and Frisco was charged with carnal abuse.
However, the juvenile failed to show up in court on numerous occasions and the investigating officer told the court that she had difficulty finding her.
The juvenile was reported to have moved from her address in Portmore. As a result, a subpoena was issued and she was brought to court on Tuesday where she admitted that she lied about the relationship.
When the entertainer, whose real name is Steve Ray, reappeared in court yesterday, the further statement from the girl admitting that she lied was on the court file.
As a result, a No Order was made by the Resident Magistrate, thereby setting the deejay free, while the juvenile, who is now charged for creating public mischief, was remanded to a place of safety.
The juvenile is to return to court on March 14.
