Sent into bat by West Indian captain Stephanie Powar, India amassed a huge total of 298 for 2 in their fifty overs. Jaya Sharma, who was India's leading run-scorer in the series against New Zealand in December, top scored again in this match with 97. All of the other Indians to bat reached their half-century: Anju Jain (67), Anjum Chopra (55*), Mithali Raj (54*).

The West Indies, in reply, could only make 193 before being dismissed from the second-last ball of the final over. Nadine George made 53, while Neetu David took four wickets for the home side.

The five-match series continues in Jamshedpur on Sunday February 29.
