Defender Brent Sancho insists he wants to stay with Gillingham, despite a dispute with chairman Paul Scally.
Sancho, who has recently been injured, defied the Kent club to join up with Trinidad & Tobago for their World Cup qualifier play-off against Bahrain.He claims an independent doctor cleared him to resume playing last week, but the club chose not to select him for their FA Cup defeat by Burscough.
Scally has said that the 28-year-old will not play for Gillingham again.
Following the Burscough game, Scally told BBC Radio Kent: "Brent has been injured and it is our view that he shouldn't be going to Trinidad & Tobago.
"But he has sought medical advice from his own doctor who has said he is fit, despite our physios and doctor saying he isn't fit.
"We have told him he can't go, and he has said he is going."
But ex-Dundee player Sancho, who joined on a two-year deal in August, said: "I'm just starting to settle in - I've just bought a flat in Maidstone.
"The fans have been very supportive of me - I would be very unhappy if I had to leave here now. But if that's what's wanted, I wouldn't have much of a choice."
