Hip-hop boss Jay-Z was so determined to sign teen singing sensation Rihanna to his Def Jam label - he refused to let her leave his office until she had put pen to paper.

The 17-year-old Barbados-born beauty has set dance floors alight with debut track Pon De Replay, so the former rapper was desperate to make her one of his first recruits since taking on the top job at the label.

Rihanna - real name Robin Rihanna Fenty - says, "They kept telling us, 'You're not leaving until you sign.'

"We just thought they were being aggressive, but they meant it literally. We had to cancel a whole set of meetings with other labels."

That might be the wrong label...especially if it means she'll constantly be in Beyonce's shadow. Constantly compared and contrasted. icon_rolleyes

Even worse as Matthew Knowles antics to trample anyone who might compete with his daughter come out...ask LeToya, Kelly or recently Jen Hudson.

She so beautiful and talented...hope she hold her own in the end.
