Drug dealer Calvin Wedderburn faces deportation back to Jamaica once he has served a five-year jail sentence.

Wedderburn, 41, was caught by police in an anti-drug operation in the Welwyn and Hatfield area, codenamed Resilience.

On five occasions, undercover cops, 'Dave' and 'Chris', arranged to buy crack and heroin from him at addresses in St Peter's Close, Brain Close, Goldings House and twice in Alban Way, Hatfield.

At St Albans Crown Court, Wedderburn, of Endercope Pine, Leytonstone, London, pleaded guilty to eight counts of supplying a class A drug in October last year.

Prosecutor Stuart Trimmer said Wedderburn had come to the UK in 1999 on a student visa but had overstayed.

Defence barrister Sally Fudge said Wedderburn had a drug habit at the time that led to him getting involved in dealing.

She said: "He was working for drugs not cash."

Since being on remand, he had been on a drugs free wing in prison.

Judge Seddon Cripps told him: "You came out from London to supply addicts.

"I take the view it would be appropriate to recommend you for deportation.
