A dramatic breakthrough in Adesh Samaroo's recovery following a vehicular accident last week came yesterday when he opened his eyes and spoke to his mother.
By Imran AliSpokesman for the chutney star Imtiaz Seepersad told the Daily Express yesterday that Samaroo spoke briefly, but the family still has no time frame on how quickly the recovery will progress.
"He opened his eyes and spoke a little bit. He called out his mom and the other guy who was in the van (that crashed) with him, Anil Soogrim. But of course he started to move up too much and we were asked to leave the room," Seepersad disclosed.
"Adesh's family and friends are of course very excited about this, and tomorrow we expect to get another update on his condition," Seepersad continued.
Public Utilities Minister Pennelope Beckles is also expected to pay a visit to Samaroo today, Seepersad added. The two, he said, got to know each other while Beckles was Minister of Culture.
Samaroo lost control of his Frontier jeep while driving home from a rehearsal on April 3. The van crashed into a wall in Tunapuna and Samaroo suffered fractures to his skull and cheekbones, a broken jaw and slight swelling to the brain.
